Superior Court Issues Warning About New Scam
Mirror Staff
The Los Angeles Superior Court has learned that people posing as members of the Juror Services staff are making suspicious phone calls to area residents.
The callers either request the persons Social Security number and mothers maiden name or they tell the person to report for jury duty at an unusual time, such as 6 p.m.
The Los Angeles County Court system does not summon citizens to jury duty by telephone or require people to report for jury duty outside of regular business hours or require potential jurors to divulge their social security numbers or mothers maiden names.
The Court does not know how or where the callers got the names and phone numbers of targeted individuals, but it is investigating each incident. Anyone who has received such a call should report it to Juror Services at 213 974 5814.
