An opening reception will be held this Saturday night at bG Gallery for “Art Deco on Acid,” a visual trip through 1967 with artist Simone Gad.

The reception will be held from 6:30 pm to 10 pm.

The exhibit, which will run through March 8, is described as a sensation of melting visuals that uses bold color and glitter to convey architectural imagery from an altered state of mind, one where imagination becomes reality and reality bends.

A painter and assemblage/collage artist, Gad rose to prominence in the Los Angeles art scene in the 1970s. After being introduced to the Fluxus movement in 1972 by Al Hansen, she began making collage and assemblage painting collages on vinyl.

An actress herself, Gad’s work focuses on Hollywood, exploring ideas of celebrity and stardom and providing unique insight into the world of fame.

Her career includes numerous exhibits through California, showing at LAICA Downtown and Molly Barnes Gallery, among others.

Her solo exhibit at Bleicher/Golightly was part of the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time Initiative.

Gad is highly regarded in the Southern California art scene, being the recipient of numerous awards and grants, as well as being included in many publications and texts.

The gallery is located at 1431 Ocean Avenue, Santa Monica.

It is open Sunday through Wednesday from 12-6 pm and Thursday through Saturday from 12-10 pm. For more information, call 310 451 9983 or visit
