AFM 2015: 87 World Premieres, 242 Market Premieres To Screen:

The American Film Market (AFM) opened Wednesday for its 36th edition, which will run through next Wednesday, Nov. 11 with more than 80 new buying companies participating with the largest growth coming from South Korea, China, Germany, and India. Nearly 1,600 buyers are expected from more than 70 countries.

A total of 407 films screenings are scheduled in more than 30 languages including 87 world premieres and 242 market premieres. Hundreds of projects will also be unveiled for pre-sales by the 391 exhibiting companies from 38 countries.

Films premiering include performances from Michael Fassbender, Brendan Gleeson, John Travolta, Keanu Reeves, Ethan Hawke, Paul Giamatti, John Leguizamo, John Cleese, Tom Hanks, Anthony Hopkins, Julia Stiles, Ray Liotta, Shirley Henderson, Diane Kruger, Emma Watson, Daniel Brühl, Clive Owen and Katie Holmes.

AFM Conferences and Roundtables will feature more than 100 industry leaders from all corners of the globe including FilmNation Entertainment CEO Glen Basner; Phoenix Pictures’ Chairman & CEO Mike Medavoy; China Film Co-Production Corporation President Miao Xiaotian; Participant Media CEO David Linde; Bona Film Group COO Jeffery Chan; Mongrel International President Charlotte Mickie; Cinetic Media’s John Sloss; Edinburgh International Film Festival’s Mark Adams; The Orchard’s Paul Davidson; Producer & Agent Cassian Elwes; and Broad Green Pictures’ Steve Nickerson. New for 2015, attendees will be hosted to nightly Carousel Cocktails at sunset on the Santa Monica Pier, providing a unique and memorable experience to connect and relax at the beach.
