An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of between 4.6 and 4.8 struck the San Bernardino County mountain resorts at 9:59 a.m. today and was felt as far away as West Los Angeles.

The epicenter reported between Big Bear City and Lake Arrowhead, according to automated earthquake sensors.

According to the Southern California Earthquake Center's web site, it was followed by a series of reported aftershocks in the 1.7-to-2.2 in the following 10 minutes.

There was no immediate report of any injuries or damage, according to Riverside County Fire Department.

The preliminary magnitude data came from automated sensors, and was subject to revision by seismologists.
