A Santa Barbara man was arrested Friday, April 26 after he spat on a Nordstrom employee and was found to have an outstanding burglary warrant.
At 10:09 pm officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to Nordstrom, located at 220 Broadway, after they had received a report of an assault.
When officers arrived they spoke with the victim, an employee of Nordstrom, who told them that she had exited the north employee door of the business when she chanced upon a man who was standing in the adjacent alcove.
This man caught hold of the door as it was closing, and the victim asked this man if he worked at the store.
The man ignored her and attempted to enter and as he did so the victim yelled at another employee to call the Loss Prevention Agent from the store.
The man pushed his face into the victim’s face and called her a rat.
Then he spat in her face.
Several other employees arrived and held the man down until the officers arrived.
The officers arrested this 40-year-old man and he was charged with battery and an outstanding burglary warrant.
Bail was set at $50,000.
