A Welsh corgi that went missing in Venice after her owner was involved in a car crash a day before New Year’s Eve has been found.

As previously reported, Beth Shafer, of Huntington Beach had been offering a large reward for the return of her Welsh corgi named Tegan who ran away after her husband was involved in a car accident at Lincoln and Washington in Venice on Dec. 30.

Shafer said Tegan was found and returned to her on Wednesday.

“She was gone 24 days and living on an unoccupied boat in the Marina at Bali and Admiralty,” Shafer said. “A boat worker found her and brought her to the Marina office. She is very thin from 21 pounds to 14 pounds and still very skittish. But what a happy ending!”

Shafer had hired professional dog trackers to try and find Tegan, but they did not have any luck.

Shafer said she wanted to thank everyone who had helped with the search.

“What a lesson to keep hoping and searching!” she said.

As a Corgi owner, I was really upset to read about this a couple of weeks back and I've been searching Twitter every few days since for updates. I'm so happy for the Shafers. I can't believe the little critter made her way into an unoccupied boat. Anyway, all's well that ends well!

Am so jubilant that Tegan was found by a marina dock worker and that she still had her collar and ID tags on. She's back home with her lovely owners and I'm sure the 24 days missing will be a distant memory not too far down the road.

YAY! So happy for this wonderful news! I'm sure Tegan has some recovering to do, but I'm sure she is more then happy to be home. Congratulations! Never give up hope, good things happen. Maybe Beth Shafer can give us an update to Tegan's health.

I too own a Corgi and had seen this posted on my Facebook page, I was so sad to see how the man was in an auto accident and his best friend was now lost. It's unbelievable how the survival mode of a dog can change from being domestic to learning how to live with the circumstances he/she are given. I'm so happy that this kind man came along and found Tegan. Welcome home baby girl and all will be better. To Tegan's family I'm so happy that you have been reunited and I hope Tegan's Dad feeling better. A Corgi lover, a friend of all our four legged creatures. Love a happy ending.
