Homeless Man In Santa Monica Arrested After Exposing Himself To Security Guard:

Santa Monica police arrested a homeless man on Wednesday, May 27, who was caught exposing himself to a security guard and then directing a number of threats and insults to the man.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department replica watches were called out to a report of an assault at 1:26 am that had just occurred at 1299 Ocean Ave.

When the officers arrived they spoke with the victim (a security guard at the location) who told them what had happened.

The security guard stated that he had been patrolling the premises when he happened upon the suspect who had been lying on some stairs at the property.

The guard said that he had asked this man to leave the property. In response the man had dropped his pants, exposed his penis and invited the security guard to perform oral sex upon his person (the exact terminology used in this request has been paraphrased for the purposes of this report).

The guard continued to tell the officers that the suspect had then thrown a cup of coffee at him, followed up with a kick to his stomach before being able to run away.

The guard added that the suspect had chased him and had been yelling racial epithets while doing so.

The guard had then managed to flag down a passing MTA bus and asked the driver to call police.

When the officers arrived this suspect was still chasing the guard and even as the officers were taking the suspect into custody the suspect continued to hurl a variety of derogatory racial slurs at the guard, culminating with a threat to cause an end to the guard’s life (again paraphrased).

This 34-year-old homeless man was charged with making criminal threats, a hate crime, indecent exposure, assault, and an outstanding warrant. Bail was set at $81,500.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of The Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
