Hotel Shangri-La owner Tehmina Adaya will appeal a Los Angeles Superior Court jury verdict delivered on Wednesday that found she discriminated against a Jewish group using the hotel’s pool for an event on July 11, 2010.

The case, filed by 19 plaintiffs, is based on a civil lawsuit involving supporters of Friends of the Israel Defense Forces.

According to the trial testimony, Adaya ordered hotel workers to remove members from a Friends of the Israel Defense Forces party and take down their banners and literature.

A statement from Hotel Shangri-La today said the group “were not hotel guests and used the property without a written contract.”

Although not available for interview, a statement from the hotel said Adaya “emphatically denies making discriminatory remarks during the event based on false statements from a former disgruntled employee who could not be found to testify in court.”

Ellen Adelman, Hotel Shangri-La business development officer, said she is a longtime senior executive who’s Jewish, as are several of her senior colleagues, and work closely with Adaya.

“She always has treated me and our multicultural staff with the greatest respect,” Adelman said in a statement. “I wasn’t allowed to testify despite the fact my name was on the witness list. We’re very disappointed with the jury’s decision and firmly maintain Ms. Adaya’s innocence. This is a miscarriage of justice.”

This lady had such a foul mouth when I talked to her once.she treats people like dirt. I know her husband is from a Jew hating Arab family. She should resign and apologize.

The family is only supporting Palestiniams and have so many Arabs in their family which is already suing each other for money. They only give money MPAC or Palestine nothing for the country that made them so rich. Problem with muslims is that they aren't who they pretend to be. They are always mistrusting of Jews.. Now they made is all look bad. Most of us live peacefully with pure Jew neighbors and friends

This is an extraordinary miscarriage of justice and doubly outrageous because, given the numbers of needy US servicemen and women in our hospitals and homeless on our streets, these plaintiffs were engaged in raising tax-exempt funds for a foreign army that spends most of its time occupying someone else's land and has only spent 34 days fighting a war in the last 30 years.

This is ridiculous. She was targeted by the Pro Jewish groups. The plaintiff was disingenuous and should have been forthcoming with their political agenda when booking the hotel for their "event" She did not discriminate based on religions race and so forth but on the political affiliation of the group. Would holding a pro -Taliban event would be consider kosher at a Jewish synagogue that rent its space to anyone? I think not. Shame on the jury and shame on Friends of the Israel Defense Forces.
