Human skeletal remains were found in the Tapia Park area of Malibu Creek State Park on Sunday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff's homicide detectives and coroner’s investigators have spent much of today at the scene after a hiker found the remains late Sunday afternoon near Las Virgenes Road.
Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter has confirmed the remains were those of a human, but the gender was not immediately known.
According to ABC7, so far, there's no indication of a cause of death, and it's unclear how long the body was there.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau at 323.890.5500.

I wonder if the remains belong to local surfer Kevin Gale, who disappeared back in May, 2008. See link: http://www.smdp.com/pdf/061308.pdf Fom what I know, Kevin hiked alot in the SM Mountains, and his friend and fellow surfer Jennifer Argenti was 1 who helped organise the search for him. Has Kevin been found?
