Santa Monica Cops Arrest Beverly Hills Man For Intent To Commit Rape:

Santa Monica police arrested a Beverly Hills man, 42, for intent to commit rape on Wednesday, March 25.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to a hotel located in the 1900 block of Ocean Way at 9:50 pm in order to investigate what was described as “unknown trouble.”

Upon arrival the officers met with the juvenile victim who was in the care of security staff at the hotel.

The officers noticed that the juvenile victim was crying hysterically.

The officers managed to calm her down enough for her to tell the officers that she had met the suspect in his hotel room in order to collect some spectacles that she had inadvertently left at the location a week prior.

She said that while she was in the hotel room the suspect had begun to argue with her about some money that the suspect had claimed the victim had stolen from her.

She continued to tell the officers that at one point during the argument the suspect had grabbed her, pinned her against the wall, and demanded that they have sexual intercourse.

The victim had at that moment been able to break away and flee the room in order to summon help.

As the officers were taking the statement from the victim, the suspect walked past them and the victim pointed the suspect out to the officers.

The officers spoke with the suspect and then decided to arrest this man and he was later charged with assault with intent to commit rape. Bail information was not available at the time of going to press.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of The Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
