A part-time Santa Monica High School instructional aide will be arraigned at the LAX branch courthouse on Feb. 27 after allegedly grabbing the buttocks of a 15-year-old female student.

Santa Monica Police Department Sgt. Richard Lewis said an investigation into allegations of the incident on the Samohi campus began on Dec. 20, 2012.

Lewis said the student reported she was grabbed on the buttocks by Kelvin Ramirez, 34, who was assigned to work with special education students.

The investigation was presented to the Santa Monica City Attorney's Office and one count of sexual battery (a misdemeanor) was filed, Lewis said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Leslie Trapnell at 310.458.2256 or Sergeant Renaldi Thruston at 310.458.8414 or the Santa Monica Police Department (24 hours) at 310.458.8495.
