Santa Monica State of the City Tonight:

The 2016 State of the City presented by Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce is on tonight.

Traditionally an early-morning affair, this year’s event will run from 4:30pm-6:30pm in an effort to involve more of the Santa Monica community.

“The discussion will focus on the blueprint to maintain and attract new small and large commercial and innovative entities that will continue to grow economic vibrancy in Santa Monica,” said Julia Ladd, Chair of the Chamber of Commerce and Assistant Vice President, Property Management, Santa Monica Place.

This year’s theme, “Innovate and Create” hopes to explore the new frontiers of our economic landscape, highlighting business success in the shared economy.

“It is imperative that we continue to maintain the open communication between local business owners and leaders with city officials,” Ladd said.

The event will provide important updates from City leaders about what is happening in Santa Monica, as well as offering a robust and ambitious business discussion with some of Santa Monica’s game changing leaders, according to the Chamber.

Taking place at SGI Auditorium in downtown Santa Monica, State of the City is an excellent means of getting the latest in what’s happening in the City, the Chamber explained.

This year’s event is focused on ‘business success in the shared economy’ – the trends, projects, and individuals who are shaping our fair city’s future it’s to take stock, network and celebrate the start of a new year in our dynamic word-class city.

Each year, a committee of business and community leaders recognizes individuals and organizations acknowledged their contributions to Santa Monica’s economy and civil society. Water Garden will receive the Economic Excellence Award and the Community Excellence Award will be given to the Crossroads School of Arts and Sciences. The Second Annual Tech Award will be given to an exemplary tech company in Santa Monica and the Hack the Beach Contest winner will be announced.

The State of the City doors will open at 4:30pm. Program by 5:00pm. Reception immediately following. Tickets are $10
for students and seniors, $40 for members
and $50 for non-members, and more
