Trio, Including Two Juveniles, Arrested After Smashing Santa Monica Car Window: Alert Police Blotter: MC (Mother’s Car) Hammer.

Two juveniles and a 25-year-old resident of Inglewood were arrested on Friday, April 24, after using a hammer to smash a car window. An officer of the Santa Monica Police Department was called out to a report of vandalism at 11:10 pm that had just occurred in the 1800 block of 16th Street.

The officer had been informed by dispatch that two men and one woman in a silver colored car had pulled up to the rear of the reporting party’s residence in the area and had proceeded to yell profanities at what was described as a rival gang member.

The suspects in the silver vehicle had then exited the vehicle and one of them had then allegedly smashed the window of the reporting party’s mother’s car with a hammer.

The reporting party had also told dispatch that after the suspects had done this he had approached them and stated that the car did not belong to the rival gang member to whom they had been yelling profanities.

At that time, the reporting party had said the suspects returned to their vehicle and left the scene.

The reporting party had been able to furnish the police with a license plate number and had also stated that he had recognized the female suspect from school.

Other officers on patrol later spotted the vehicle in the 1600 block of Lincoln Boulevard and had followed the vehicle to the 200 block of Pacific Coast Highway whereupon they stopped the vehicle.

The officers arrested two juveniles and a 25-year-old resident of Inglewood and they were charged with vandalism with a gang enhancement.

Bail was set at $60,000 for the 25-year-old resident of Inglewood.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of The Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
