Westside Girls Basketball Teams Advance In CIF Playoffs: Update #5 Wndward Wins Championship, St. Monica Advances To CIF Finals

The Westside saw six of its teams enter the playoffs and compete in a winner advances tournament bracket to determine how far teams would advance toward the championship round of the CIF Southern Section Girls Basketball.

 

Westside teams that have been competing for the 2013 CIF Southern Section crowns include: Windward (30-0) Crossroads (21-3), St. Monica (27-6), Pacifica Christian (10-12), and Archer (6-18).

 

Windward won the CIF Championship Wednesday night and St. Monica will play for the title Saturday.

 Division IV AA:

First Round

*Windward won against Costa Mesa 100-21 at home Thursday night.

Second Round

*Windward won against La Salle Saturday night 76-31.

Quarterfinals

Windward won against Morro Bay 71-23 away Wednesday night.

Semi-Finals

Windward won against St. Bernard 77-48 at home Saturday night.

Finals

Windward won against Serra 85-57 at the Anaheim Arena Wednesday night to remain undefeated CIF champions at 30-0.

Division IV A:

 First Round

*St. Monica won against St. Mathias 52-18 at home Thursday night.

*Crossroads won against Mayfield 57-44 at home Thursday night.

*Brentwood won at home against Laguna Beach 59-32 Thursday night.

*Archer lost against Paraclete 48-37 away Thursday night.

Second Round

*St. Monica won against Whittier Christian 51-20 at home Saturday night.

*Crossroads won against Brentwood 45-43 away Saturday night.

Quarterfinals

*Crossroads lost against St. Paul 50-34 away Wednesday night.

*St. Monica won against Fairmont Prep 70-63 away Wednesday night.

Semi-Finals

St. Monica won away against Cantwell-Sacred Heart 67-55 Saturday night.

Next game for St. Monica is against St. Paul away at Mater Dei High School Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Division V AA:

*Pacifica Christian lost away against Loma Linda Academy 59-45 Thursday night.

Semi-Finals are Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. with the locations and teams playing TBA.

Finals will be held Wednesday-Saturday Feb. 27-Mar. 2.
