The Santa Monica AYSO Boys U10 Beasts Unleashed, coached by father-son team Campbell and Ryan Odening, finished fourth in the Area 1P tournament out of 200 teams on January 17. The Beasts Unleashed had an exceptional year by winning the annual 5 x 5 tournament and clenching the League Championship, on December 13, over Jacques Monrose’s Orange Blazers with a 2-0 victory led by Chase Odening’s two goals – both were corner kicks. A solid Beasts defense composed of Soroosh Ghaffari at center, Chase Odening at right, and Noah Rose at left, held the Blazers scoreless throughout the game. The goalkeeper position was split between William Ayala in the first half and Owen Hallinan in the second half, sharing equal glory for helping complete the shutout. The offense was powered by Christian Cruz, with help from Buddy Moench.
