A new group exhibit opens this Tuesday at TAG Gallery in Santa Monica that will run through April 19 featuring artists Christo Brock, Elsie Dye Sims, and Kamil Vojnar. An opening reception will follow next Saturday, March 29 from 5-8 pm.

Bergamot Station Arts Center Development On Santa Monica Council Docket

The Santa Monica City Council is not yet done with development in the Bergamot Station area. Just two weeks after formally approving the controversial Hines development agreement (DA) on second reading by a 4-3 vote, council members will be voting this Tuesday, Feb. 25 to allow the City Manager’s office to enter into an exclusive negotiating agreement with a developer to develop the Bergamot Station Arts Center.

“Going Up” 10” x 28” x 10” is one of the pieces on display at Lois Lambert Gallery through March 9.

A development agreement (DA) proposing to bring 471 rental housing units and as much as 375,000 square feet of creative office space to Bergamot Station and the Transit Village Center at 1681 26 Street has been deliberated by Santa Monica’s planning commissioners for the past two weeks.

Not all development in Santa Monica is proposed to be a high-rise building by the beach or a mixed-use project in the downtown area. The City Council formally adopted Tuesday night the Bergamot Area Plan, which seeks to transform the almost geographic center of Santa Monica into a thriving district balancing the arts, commerce, and residence.
