On Saturday morning, Santa Monica residents exited their homes and were shocked to discover ash raining from the sky, and a large black cloud blocking most of the sky, darkening the landscape and turning the bit of sun that peeked through, an apocalyptic-looking shade of red.

LA City Fire Crews Bring Getty Fire Under Control

Los Angeles City fire crews contained the Getty fire that started on Friday along the eastern side of the Sepulveda Pass along the 405 freeway consuming around 90 acres of dry brush in the canyons of Bel Air this weekend. Since there was no lightning in the area, arson has been suspected.

A Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter circles around the hills of Bel Air after dropping water on the pockets of fire below just after sunset on Friday, Sept. 14.
