L.A. city firefighters today knocked down a stubborn blaze at a commercial building in Westwood, authorities said.

Santa Monica firefighters aided by Los Angeles firefighters battled flames Saturday night at the rear of a two-story apartment building near the Santa Monica pier.

Fire disrupted the Saturday night partying near the Santa Monica pier, when flames broke out in a two-story apartment house on Ocean Front Walk. An employee at Big Dean's Ocean Front Cafe said the blaze got so close, the bar had to be evacuated.

The 23rd Annual Candy Cane Drive will be held Saturday,Dec. 19.

A woman reported missing from Simi Valley was found inside her crashed SUV today about 50 feet down the side of a hillside north of Malibu and taken to a hospital with what were described as moderate injuries.

As the July 4th holiday approaches on Saturday, the Santa Monica Fire and Police Departments reminds everyone that all types of fireworks are illegal in the City of Santa Monica.

A fire at The Lobster early Saturday morning closed the restaurant all weekend. Pictured is the charred stove where the fire is believed to have started. It along with a booth was the only damage from the incident. The restaurant reopened Monday.
