The “Stadium to the Sea” – or the Los Angeles Marathon, as it is more commonly known – is ready for its 29th race this weekend, as runners will be pacing themselves this Sunday on a 26.2-mile course snaking from Dodger Stadium to just shy of the Santa Monica Pier.

After a highly successful sold-out 2013 race, the addition of a new title sponsor and increased international recognition for the event, the ASICS LA Marathon is on a roll. To help propel the race even further on a global stage, LA MARATHON LLC announced that Tracey Russell, Executive Director of the Atlanta Track Club (ATC), will join the ASICS LA Marathon as its new chief executive officer.

The 2013 Asics LA Marathon Stadium to the Sea course brought together over 24,000 runners from around the world which started at Dodger Stadium this morning and will culminate in Santa Monica Sunday afternoon. Erick Mose of Kenya won the men's race with a 2:09:42. After the LA Marathon, Mose said it was not easy for him to win the 26.2 mile race that cuts through Echo Park, Silverwood, Hollywood, and Beverly Hills before flattening out to around 600 feet when winding through the Westside. "I was so happy," said Mose. "It was not easy for me to win the race."

The LA Marathon's “Stadium to the Sea” course will enter Santa Monica this Sunday, March 17 on San Vicente Boulevard at 26th Street, then turns south at Ocean Avenue to the finish line at Ocean and California.

Ultra-marathoner Julie Weiss, a long distance runner in her forties and mother of two, is extremely passionate about finding a cure for pancreatic cancer and has undertaken a mission to complete 52 marathons in 52 weeks culminating in the 26.2 mile LA Marathon on March 17.

With a little over a month left to go until the LA Marathon, runners have already starting their LA Marathon training with a 5K night run led by ultra-marathoner Julie Weiss along Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica Wednesday night.
