Young Authors To Lead Panel At Santa Monica Main Library This Tuesday Evening

A young adult author panel titled “Books to Bond Over: YA Authors in Conversation” will take place from 7-9 pm this Tuesday, July 8 at the Santa Monica Main Library. It will include six successful young authors – three hailing from Santa Monica.

The Pico Branch Library ribbon cutting ceremony held Saturday with Mayor Pam O’Connor, Pico Neighborhood Association Co-Chair Oscar de la Torre, and Virginia Avenue Park Advisory Board member Nick Steers.

Elected officials, poets, librarians, community activists, educators, architects, writers, community residents, and park and library users gathered together on Saturday, June 28 for a daylong celebration of the opening of the first new public library to be built in Santa Monica in 50 years, the Pico Branch Library.

The Pico Branch Library, which opened to the public in late April, will host a free fun-filled grand opening celebration this Saturday.

Santa Monica Public Library Seeks Community Suggestions For 2015 Program

In early May, Santa Monica Public Library wrapped up its twelfth year of community reading with The Big Read and the featured novel Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea.

Pico Branch Library branch manager Cecilia Tovar said the first week of opening has been extremely busy, with 1,650 visitors welcomed in the first three days alone.
