Caltrans will close both directions of Pacific Coast Highway intermittently between 6:30 am and 4:30 pm today, Dec. 4 from south of Las Posas Road to north of Deer Creek Road while crews use a helicopter to help install rock fencing along the slopes.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has postponed alternating closures in both directions of Pacific Coast Highway (State Route 1) intermittently that were scheduled today between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. from south of Las Posas Road to north of Deer Creek Road.

I am pleased to inform you that the Malibu Schools Environmental Task Force met this weekend to review the first preliminary results of PCB air sampling tests conducted at Malibu High School late last month. We were encouraged by the preliminary results, which show that PCB levels throughout the school are well below the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) public health guidelines for schools.

Dear Members of the Board of Education and Malibu Environmental Task Force: Following recent revelations of serious illnesses among teachers on the Middle School campus and the discovery of PCB and pesticide contamination next to the classroom buildings in the Middle School Quad, a group of concerned Malibu parents joined together to retain an independent environmental expert to recommend testing protocols and precautionary measures to insure the safety of our children, their teachers and the administrators at the Malibu campus.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close one lane north and southbound Pacific Coast Highway between Heathercliff Road and Deer Creek Road Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8, from 5 am to 12 pm.

An incapacitated Calabasas teenager was rescued Thursday evening approximately 150 feet down a poison-oak laden canyon off of Mulholland Highway -- about 1.5 miles east of Kanan Road near the infamous “Rock Store” in Malibu.

Santa Monica High School (9-8) tested the might of the Malibu High School (14-3) Sharks with Vikings pitcher Connor Greene retiring 13 batters to spearhead the win 5-2 in the first game of the doubleheader baseball games at Malibu High School Friday afternoon. The Vikings went on to win the second game 2-1. Samohi's starting pitcher Greene said that he thought the first game of the doubleheader went well. "My legs were a little tired but by the fourth inning I finally loosened up, I got into a groove, and did what I've been doing most of the season," said Greene. "Being a rival school it's always a fun win."
