Windward (32-0) defeated Mater Dei (30-2) 81-71 outscoring the Monarchs in the second quarter to win the game in the California Regional Championships at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario Saturday night. With the win, the Wildcats advance to the 2013 California State Finals game. Windward's point run began in the second quarter when the Wildcat's Emily Surloff hit a long jumper to give the Wildcats a six point lead at 30-24.

Mater Dei (3-0) shut down the offensive attack of the high-powered Santa Monica High School Vikings (2-1) at the Santa Ana Bowl Thursday in an impressive display of defensive and offensive might that caused the Vikings to crumble by the second quarter of play and ultimately led to their defeat 51-0.

Defensive back Sebastian LaRue of Santa Monica High School returns an interception against Palisades Charter High for 45 yards at the beginning of the second quarter that led to a Viking touchdown at Palisades High School on Sept. 7. The Vikings won the game 53-12.

Santa Monica High School (2-0) dominated both sides of the ball blowing out the Palisades Charter High School Dolphins (1-1) 53-12 with junior running back Will Taylor stealing the show and racking up three touchdowns to lead the Vikings to victory.
