Dulce Rosa World Premiere Tonight At The Broad Stage In Santa Monica

The Broad Stage in Santa Monica and L.A. Opera have joined forces to co-produce the world premiere of Dulce Rosa, which opens tonight at 7:30 pm.

Winners of the iCadenza/New West Symphony Young Artists Vocal Competition will be the soloists for the Ninth Symphony. They include (from left) tenor Casey Candebat, soprano Emily Dyer, mezzo-soprano Grace Newberry, and bass-baritone Steve Pence.

Music representing one of the world’s most popular film industries was on full display for the first time at L.A. Live’s Nokia Theatre, home of the Grammys. Bollywood playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan and actor Ali Zafar performed for three hours in front of about 2,000 people on April 20, putting on a show for international charity, raising money for an eye care facility in India.

Jacaranda’s three-concert celebration of Benjamin Britten’s centenary continues this Saturday, April 27 with a concert staging of “Curlew River,” a chamber opera (1963) intended for performance in a church.

Theater organ master and composer Robert Israel will provide an original score for two feature films and an animated short next Saturday, April 27 at Barnum Hall, which he will perform live.
