Assistance League Of Santa Monica Sponsors Science School Trip

The Assistance League of Santa Monica annually sponsors fifth graders from Stoner Avenue School to attend a week at Malibu Outdoor Science School, which was recently held Jan. 12-16.

The Rose Parade in Pasadena is a festival of flower-covered floats, marching bands, equestrians and the Rose Bowl college football game on New Year’s Day (but moved to Monday, January 2 if New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday).

AIDS Healthcare Foundation To Highlight Ebola At Thursday's Rose Parade

Ebola will make an appearance at the Rose Parade this year, as the AIDS Healthcare Foundation will send a float down Colorado Boulevard to honor doctors and nurses who have gone to Africa to help Ebola victims, the foundation announced today.

While thousands of Los Angeles-area residents will be opening presents Thursday, there will also be several efforts to help thousands of the region's poor on Christmas Day.

Meet Me Under The Fig Tree Helps OPCC, Olympic High

The Santa Monica community generously came together on Sunday, Dec. 14, to donate about 8,500 pounds of non-perishable food during Meet Me Under the Fig Tree, a free annual event hosted by Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows and MSD Capital.

Nat Trives, known as Mr. Santa Monica, held his 80th birthday at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier earlier this month, which has so far raised $83,000 for 30 non-profits he supports.
