Since 1937, the Assistance League of Santa Monica chapter has been helping children and families in need in the Santa Monica Bay Area. They work closely with the Santa Monica/Malibu Unified School District and local Los Angeles Unified School District to identify those in need in the community.

Nick Arquette is the founder of Walk With Sally, a non-profit organization that offers a mentorship program that pairs cancer survivors with mentees that have a parent, sibling, or family member with cancer. The aim is to foster a loving friendship and a sense of community between all the parties involved.

Assistance League of Santa Monica member volunteers gathered on Wednesday at the Chapter House to fill 420 backpacks with age appropriate school supplies, which includes notebooks, writing utensils, and other materials, as well as a hygiene kit including deodorant and toothbrushes.

St. Vincent Meals on Wheels – the charity that does exactly what its name implies. People drive around and deliver food to the elderly or reclusive, which greatly helps the communities that it is involved in.

Fight the good fight against cancer this weekend with sunshine and some beach yoga at the Santa Monica Pier. For a $25 ticket, yogi fundraisers will receive a free yoga mat and water while providing real immediate support for both those being diagnosed with cancer and those that have survived.
