SMC Board Of Trustees Names 2015 Chair, Vice Chair

The Santa Monica Community College District Board of Trustees has named its chair and vice chair for 2015: Rob Rader and Dr. Louie Jaffe, respectively.

Santa Monica College is among the first California Community College Bachelor’s Degree Programs to receive initial approval from Board of Governors, final approval in March.

Santa Monica College Selected To Offer A Four Year Bachelor's Degree

Santa Monica College was given initial approval on Tuesday by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors to develop a Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design.

SMC Community Ed's first-ever series of Open Houses will be held Jan. 26-30 at the Bundy Campus, Room 112, 3171 S. Bundy Dr., Los Angeles.

SMC Community Education To Host First-Ever Open Houses Jan. 26-30

SMC Community Education has announced its first-ever series of Open Houses Jan. 26-30. Attendees will have a chance to receive during their visit a 15 percent discount on all classes less than $100, enter a drawing for a free class and receive a surprise gift.

Among the new classes to be offered in Spring is 'Director's Journal: How to Develop Your Directorial Style,' taught by award-winning film director Simone Bartesaghi.

Registration Opens For SMC Communication Education Spring Classes

As SMC Community Education’s vibrant Winter Session gets under way today, it is also looking ahead to an even heartier Spring Semester – with more than 170 classes, workshops and tours, including several new offerings. Registration for both sessions is now open, and spring classes begin Feb. 21.

SMC Receives $1.6 Million "LA Hi-Tech" Grant To Fill Skills Gap

Santa Monica College was awarded a $1.6 million grant from the California Department of Education’s California Career Pathway Trust.

The Santa Monica College student newspaper The Corsair won 16 awards – including online General Excellence and four first place awards – at the 2014 Southern California convention of the Journalism Association of Community Colleges (JACC) held on the campus of California State Fullerton University on October 17-18.

Opening reception for 'Pyrometrics' – a survey of creative works by Ceramicist Franklyn Phillips – will be held on Oct. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at SMC's Pete and Susan Barrett Gallery. Exhibit runs from Oct. 28 to Dec. 6.
