Two New House Principals Appointed To Santa Monica High School

Hector Medrano and John Misustin have joined Santa Monica High School as new House Principals. The pair's appointment was approved at the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District board meeting on June 25.

Greg Coote passed away on June 27. He served as the co-founder of the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation’s For The Arts Endowment Campaign for many years.

Santa Monica-Malibu Public Schools Advocate Greg Coote Dies Aged 72

Known in the Santa Monica education community as a man of action, Greg Coote passed away on June 27 at the age of 72. Without hesitation, he stepped up at a time when his school community needed him.

Santa Monica-Malibu Schools Demonstrate Big Gains In Graduation Rate

The California Department of Education has released new graduation rate data for the Class of 2013. The rate for SMMUSD’s Class of 2013 climbed to a remarkable 93.5 percent.

A check for $5,000 was presented to the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation on Sunday.

PEER Claims Malibu School Contamination May Stem From World War II Uses

Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) on Tuesday said military operations may explain the contaminated soils found on campus during a 2011 environmental assessment and soil removal project at Malibu Middle and High Schools and Juan Cabrillo Elementary School.

The Stairway of Stars choir concert was held Friday night at Barnum Hall. A band concert will be held Tuesday, Feb. 11 while an orchestra concert will be held this Thursday, Feb. 13.
