SMMUSD Board Meeting To Relocate To Santa Monica On Thursday, Oct. 2

The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education meeting on Thursday, Oct. 2 will be relocated to the district office at 1651 16th Street, Santa Monica. The district said the change was due to construction scheduled for the Malibu City Council Chambers.

SMMUSD: EPA Supports Environmental Testing As All Malibu Buildings Re-Open

As the first day of school approaches, EPA officials issued a letter dated Aug.14 formally validating the District’s environmental testing program, noting that, “The District is meeting EPA national guidelines to protect public health from PCBs in schools by addressing the human exposure pathways of greatest concern, namely air, dust and soil.”

Free, Reduced-Price Meal Information For Santa Monica-Malibu Schools

The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District announced on Wednesday its policy for 2014-15 for providing free and reduced-price meals for children served under the National School Lunch Program and/or School Breakfast Program.

A Washington D.C. based environmental advocacy group, who is working with the local group Malibu Unites, alleges the SMMUSD is failing to take the most conservative steps regarding environmental questions at Malibu schools.

New Testing Reportedly Finds Illegal Levels Of Toxins At Malibu Schools

Two New House Principals Appointed To Santa Monica High School

Hector Medrano and John Misustin have joined Santa Monica High School as new House Principals. The pair's appointment was approved at the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District board meeting on June 25.

Greg Coote passed away on June 27. He served as the co-founder of the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation’s For The Arts Endowment Campaign for many years.
