Sunshine 12 Westside Girls Volleyball Team Wins SCVA National Qualifier In Anaheim

The Sunshine 12 Westside girls volleyball team won the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) National Qualifier at the Anaheim Convention Center Sunday afternoon after an amazing weekend tournament that sported twists and turns and saw the girls pressured to win three matches in a row before they won the championship game in the gold round. Sunshine 12 Westside girls volleyball Head Coach Lenka Jamrichova said that the girls gave it their all in order to win the SCVA tournament. "Going 1-2 on the first day was not ideal but I still knew we could get back into it if we played like we did in St. Louis and in the last regional tournament," said Jamrichova.

The Sunshine 12 Westside girls volleyball team won the 2013 Nike Mideast Qualifier volleyball tournament after grinding through three grueling days of volleyball matches against top club volleyball teams in the nation in St. Louis March 15-17. With the prestigious national tournament win, the Sunshine 12 Westside girls volleyball team qualifies to play in the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships in Dallas,Texas June 28-July 5.

Crossroads Boys Volleyball Grits Out Win Over Brentwood 3-1

Crossroads (4-0) boys volleyball won their first league game against Brentwood (1-2) soaring over the Eagles 3-1 at Brentwood High School Friday night. The Roadrunners lost the first set 27-25 before climbing back on top to win the next three sets 25-19, 25-23, and 25-15. Crossroads Boys Volleyball Head Coach Mary Jo Deutschman said the Roadrunners played well against the Eagles. "It's our first league game and I think we played well," said Deutschman. "We lost the first game but then we just buckled down and came back tough and gritted it out."

SMC Corsairs Volleyball Drop Conference Opener To LA Pierce Brahmas 3-1

The third set was tied after outside hitter Zach Brown of Santa Monica College (3-5) evened the score against LA Pierce 29-29 with the Corsairs looking for their first Conference win of the season over the LA Pierce Brahmas (3-4) at home Friday night. But the Corsairs were stopped short of the victory after four sets 3-1 by Setter Tyler Yanez who managed to place in a point after a long volley to put the Brahmas ahead 30-29.

SMC Corsairs Grow In Volleyball Loss To IVC Lasers 3-2

Santa Monica College (3-2) lost to Irvine Valley College (5-0) in volleyball in a close five-set match 20-25, 25-21, 14-25, 25-18, 15-11 Friday night at home. SMC Volleyball Head Coach John Mayer thought that even though the Corsairs lost to the Lasers that they competed well.

Windward Volleyball Beats Hoover 3-1 In SoCal Regionals

The Windward Wildcats Volleyball team are still alive in the state playoffs and have crossed into another phase of their 2012 season this time playing in the Southern California Regionals of the California State Volleyball Championships tournament beating Hoover 3-1 in Fresno Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Rim Of The World Defeats Windward In Volleyball CIF Finals

Mountain Valley League Champions Rim of the World (26-1) defeated Windward (15-5) in three sets in the CIF Southern Section 3AA finals Saturday night. According to Windward Volleyball Head Coach Michelle McGuire, the Wildcats fought through bouts of ball control issues against a "scrappy Rim team" but came up short in the championship match.

Pacifica Christian defeated St. Anthony in the CIF semi-finals in volleyball with the Seawolves winning three out of four sets 25-18, 25-18, and 25-21 with the second set handed to the Saints 25-23.

After winning the first volleyball set 25-15, St. Monica (9-4) looked like they were going to easily cruise to victory over St. Paul (8-6), but the Swordsmen came together and held fast against the onslaught of the Mariners to win the next three sets 25-23, 25-22, and 25-21.

Archer Volleyball Captures Delphic League Title

The Archer (12-3) Volleyball team captured the Delphic League title with three recent league wins against Calvary Chapel (12-9), Pacific Hills (0-16), and Milkin. The Panthers are now 9-1 in league play with their only loss to Milkin earlier in the season avenged Wednesday, Oct. 31.
