SMC Lady Corsairs Basketball Lose to West LA In Final Seconds 56-51

The cross town rivalry was tight with the SMC Corsairs clinging to a one point lead over the West Los Angeles Wildcats 23-22 at halftime, but West Los Angeles came back to win the game 56-51 after the Wildcats outscored the Corsairs during the final seconds of play in the SMC Pavilion Saturday afternoon.

A body covered with a sheet lies on the intersection of Bundy and Missouri in West Los Angeles Wednesday night.  The accident occurred during rush hour traffic around 5 p.m.

A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident just before 5 p.m. Wednesday involving a SUV on S. Bundy Drive between Olympic and Santa Monica Boulevard in West Los Angeles.

New Roads (8-6) is on a winning streak with two wins this week beating Lighthouse Christian for the second time this season in a decisive three sets 25-18, 25-15, and 25-20 Tuesday afternoon with the second game won against Wildwood Wednesday in three sets 25-14, 25-19, and 25-17.

Santa Monica College (3-1) caged the West Los Angeles Wildcats (1-2) during their first conference game of the season in a commanding game where the Corsairs showed sparks of brilliance while whittling down the Wildcats to win the game 31-21.

405 Freeway Wilshire Blvd. Ramps Reopen Three Weeks Ahead Of Schedule

Three weeks ahead of schedule, the 405 Freeway westbound Wilshire Boulevard on-ramp and the northbound off-ramp will re-open to traffic today. The two ramp closures, popularly known as “Ramp Jam,” were originally scheduled for 90-day closures that officially began on June 22 with reopening originally scheduled for Sept. 22.

A plane that took off from Santa Monica Airport crashed moments later in a residential neighborhood of West Los Angeles around 6 p.m. Friday the evening smoldering palm trees and snarling traffic just east of the 405 freeway near Olympic and Westwood Blvd along Mississippi Ave.
