Mothers For Justice Has Website
Formed by Santa Monica parents who led the campaign to
change Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) policies
and procedures to ensure that students’ civil rights are not abused,
Mothers for Justice (MFJ) now has its own website:
www.mothersforjustice.com.
“We are extremely excited to expand our activism to the internet.
The website will help bring Mothers for Justice closer to the people,”
said the group’s co-chair, Maria Loya.
Acording to Loya, people can contact MFJ through the website, sign
up to receive email updates, and review “Institutional Racism in the
Santa Monica-Malibu School District: Its Impact on Students of Color,”
the MFJ report that led to the development of new district policies.
In the near future, the group plans to make the website “a portal
to students’ rights information” to assist parents and students who
may have school-related problems, with tools to battle violations, as
well as links to useful community resources. |
