Earlier this week, the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) arrested John Douglas Steuart, a 57 year- old male from Huntington Beach, for his possible involvement in an assault with a vehicle.

Officers responded to the scene and determined a male suspect driving a white 4-door cross-over type vehicle was attempting to exit the parking lot without paying the parking fee.

“The parking attendant (victim) confronted the suspect about the payment due. While the victim was in front of the vehicle, the suspect accelerated the vehicle striking the victim causing her to fall to the ground. While the victim was on the ground, the suspect continued to accelerate striking the victim a second time. The suspect drove off at a high rate of speed,” reads a SMPD press release.
