Chef Brian Bornemann, owner of the Santa Monica seafood restaurant Crudo e Nudo, plans to open a pasta restaurant called Bar Fortuna nearby this fall.

The new spot will occupy 2917 Main St., the former home of Vamos Vamos, one block from Crudo e Nudo, according to a recent ABC filing reported by What Now Los Angeles. Bornemann’s team declined to provide further details when contacted by the local outlet.

Forbes reported that Bar Fortuna will focus on handmade pasta, farmers-market plates, Italian-style cocktails and a wine list curated by specialist J.D. Plotnick. The restaurant is targeting an early fall opening. Forbes also described a recent preview dinner at Betsy in Altadena, where Bornemann collaborated with chef Tyler Wells and served test dishes including handmade pasta with lamb ragù.

Jose Morales, Bornemann’s longtime sous chef, is expected to serve as chef de cuisine at Bar Fortuna, according to the Forbes account. Bornemann, a Santa Monica native, opened Crudo e Nudo in 2021.
