Cops Search For Driver Of Older Black Sedan Involved In Santa Monica Hit-And-Run:

Santa Monica police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Tuesday night. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward to help with their investigation.

SMPD Sgt. Jay Moroso said the incident occurred at approximately 9:15 pm at the intersection of 4th and Ashland Avenue.

He said the preliminary investigation indicated that a vehicle was traveling south on 4th Street and the vehicle struck a male pedestrian crossing in the crosswalk at Ashland.

“The pedestrian sustained a fracture to a leg and a broken shoulder,” Moroso said. “The injuries are not life threatening.”

Moroso said the preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect vehicle was described as an older black sedan with tinted windows.

“Investigators are working to find the vehicle and driver,” he said.

A witness told The Mirror they saw paramedics load the victim — who looked like he was aged in his 40s — onto a stretcher and he was conscious.

“He was not crying out in pain,” the witness said. “Hopefully the injuries are not severe.”

Anyone with information can call Detective Jason Olson at 310.458.8954 or the Santa Monica Communications Center (24 hours) at 310.458.8491.
