Foie Gras Protestors To Shake Things Up Outside Melisse Tonight In Santa Monica:

Santa Monica restaurant Melisse will take part in a “foie gras battle” against three other Los Angeles restaurants tonight, but members of the Animal Protection and Rescue League plan to shake things up by protesting outside the Wilshire Blvd. establishment.

Melisse will be serving up a six-course prix fix dinner featuring foie gras as part of the “battle” organized by the Coalition for Humane and Ethical Farming Standards (C.HE.F.S.)

Proceeds benefit C.H.E.F.S.’ effort to replace a pending statewide ban on foie gras with alternative humane farming practices.

Protesters will arrive outside the restaurant at 1104 Wilshire Blvd. at 7:30 p.m. in an effort to counter a statewide ban on the delicacy set to take effect on July 1.
