The media and local community are mourning the passing of popular Santa Monica Daily Press managing editor Daniel Archuleta who died suddenly on Wednesday. He was 38.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Gali, and two daughters, Lila and Gaby, and a large, loving family.
Daily Press Publisher, Ross Furukawa, lauded his contributions.
“Daniel’s work touched everyone, whether they knew it or not,” he said. “He was a pro, and helped us craft news into sharable, repeatable stories.”
Mike Jennings, a close, lifelong friend of Daniel, has set up a memorial fund to help the Archuleta family cope with this very unexpected loss.
Jennings said he is asking those who know the family to take a minute to help support them in this terrible time.
“I can say that they were not ready financial to cope with this sudden loss,” Jennings said. “I am sure they can use every penny right now as Gali is now left on her own to fend for these two little girls. Please take a second to donate anything you possibly can to ease the burden of their loss.”
The cause of his death has not been announced publicly.
