JAMS National Jr. Honor Society Raise Money At AIDS Walk:

John Adams Middle School students who are members of the National Jr. Honor Society take part in many service-learning projects throughout the school year, including the AIDS Walk Los Angeles held Sunday in West Hollywood.

Its members collected more than $3,300 and 45 of them walked the route to show support for the cause.

The National Jr. Honor Society is a nationally recognized organization whose purpose is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage excellent citizenship.

The students selected must maintain the highest standards in academics and citizenship.

All donations from Sunday’s event go to “AIDS Project Los Angeles,” which provides direct services to thousands of men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS in Los Angeles County.

“AIDS Project LA” is dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by HIV disease and reducing the incidence of HIV infection.

The next project for the JAMS students will be assisting with the Partnership Walk to help end global poverty.

This event will take place at the Santa Monica Pier on Oct. 28.

Before the winter break they will conduct their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, volunteer at the Santa Monica Civic Center Thanksgiving Day Dinner, and conduct their annual Toy Drive for the Westside Children’s Center.
