A DUI/Driver's License Checkpoint will be held next Friday, April 19, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

The SMPD never discloses the locations of its checkpoints, but it will be within city limits.

Officers will be contacting drivers passing through the checkpoint looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment.

Drivers caught driving impaired can expect jail, license suspension, and insurance increases; as well as fines, fees, DUI classes, court probation and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.

SMPD Lieutenant Jay Trisler said during the past year, traffic collisions involving impaired drivers/riders were involved in 91 collisions; which have killed three and injured 28 people.

Unless the drunk is a cop...then its fine if she or he causes a fatality or two during a dui task force. At least in el segundo. Santa monica is no different. Like your neighborhood, thank your neighbors. Ive yet to meet sm, so maybe they are the heros instead of zeros. Will see on fri at undisclosed loc. That settles it, no respect for law or rights.
