It appears there will be a softball season for Santa Monica College in 2005.There was doubt about that after the February 15 opener against Ventura College was cancelled because the Corsairs didn’t have enough women on the squad.Athletic director Rhonda Hyatt said the roster was only a couple of players short and Coach Tamara Ivie was pleased when the turnout reached an acceptable number for a game against Cuesta College last Saturday.

The Santa Monica City Council voted last Tuesday to approve an ordinance requiring rooftop solar systems for all new construction:
The ordinance goes into effect 30 days after the Tuesday April 26 vote and continues the City’s history of adopting local requirements that advance the transition to high performance, green buildings for all, the City said.
