Agle Acting Head Planner:

Santa Monica’s City Manager Susan E. McCarthy named Andy Agle acting director of the city’s Planning & Community Development Department on Monday.

He will head the department while a search is conducted for a successor to Suzanne Frick, who will leave Santa Monica on April 18 to head the Long Beach Planning Department.

Agle has been Assistant Director of the department for seven years. Prior to that, he was a project manager for the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency and project manager and advisor for several regional planning and transportation agencies.

He has a B.A. in economics from Pomona College and a Master of Public Affairs and Urban and Regional Planning from Princeton University.As assistant director of the Planning and Community Development Department in Santa Monica, Agle has overseen a variety of interdepartmental projects, including the master development plan for the civic center, design of the public safety facility, the development agreement for RAND’s new corporate headquarters, and design of the new civic center parking facility which has just begun construction.
