Fifth Malibu Creek Trail Challenge is Saturday:

Generic Events will host the fifth annual Malibu Creek Trail Challenge on Saturday, May 7, at Malibu Creek State Park.

The races will begin at 7 a.m.

This year’s presenting sponsors include Montrail running shoes, ClifBar, Shwag Revolution and The Starting Line.

Approximately 500 runners are expected to take part in this event, which features two races: a 4-mile and a 14-mile. They traditionally attract leading trail runners from throughout Southern California.

According to Event Director Brennan Lindner, the events are “fun for everyone. It is apparent to all involved that everyone enjoys the event, including the Race Staff, volunteers, and participants.” Lindner is the Race director for the SoCal Trail Running Series, which hosts events held throughout the year at Malibu Creek State Park, Pt. Mugu State Park and Topanga State Park.

100 volunteers will assist at Saturday’s races.

The event benefits Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, which was founded in 1901, and has treated seriously ill and injured children in Los Angeles for more than a century.

The Malibu Creek Trail Challenge also offers a Youth Outreach Program that introduces 12 to 17 year old students to the California State Parks and trail running.

A discounted registration fee of $20 for the 4-mile distance is available.
