Fireworks To Go Off at Corsair Field on Sat.:

“Celebrate America,” the annual fireworks display at Corsair Field at Santa Monica College will be held on Saturday, July 2, this year.

In addition to the traditional fireworks, the celebration will feature entertainment by Dixieland band Main Street and the rhythm-and-blues group JD Hall & the JD Hall Band.

Gates at Corsair Field, at 16th Street and Pico Boulevard, will open at 5 p.m., the entertainment will begin at 6 p.m. and the fireworks, by Pyro Spectaculars, will go off at dusk.

People may bring picnic dinners or patronize the food vendors. Alcoholic beverages, glass containers, barbecues and fireworks are prohibited.

The event is free, and parking is $5. For information, call (310) 434-3000.There will be no fireworks at Santa Monica Pier on the Fourth of July again this year.
