Everyone who subscribes to Adelphia Cable has seen its plethora of pitches for its multitude of services. Sign with us, they say, and we’ll give you the world – on line, on the cable – high speed internet, digital cable, hundreds of channels, “on demand” programming, “TV on your terms,” high definition pictures, and so on. It also frequently touts its commitment to the community.
Everyone who subscribes to Adelphia also got a letter last month that began, “At Adelphia, we are committed to providing you with the highest quality cable television service at the best possible price. We will soon be making some additions and other programming changes to your Digital Cable channel line-up.
“These changes, which will be effective on June 15, 2005, will bring some exciting new channels to both our Digital Basic and Digital Plus levels.”
As it turns out “these changes” include the elimination of 21 channels from the Adelphia line-up, but do not include an equivalent reduction in rates. So much for “the highest quality cable television service at the best possible price.”
