15,000 ANGELENOS PROTEST WAR:

According to the LAPD, 15,000 people took part in an anti-war demonstration in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, September 24, coinciding with similar events in San Francisco, Washington D.C., and London. Approximately 60 soldiers die every month in Iraq. Veterans for Peace members carried 60 flag-draped caskets along the protest route, which ended at Temple and Spring Streets, where the caskets were displayed on the lawn in front of Los Angeles City Hall. Since February, the Veterans for Peace have set up Arlington West Memorial, the field of crosses on Santa Monica Beach north of the Santa Monica Pier every Sunday and on some holidays.
