Shotgun House Goes On The Road:

Built in the 1890s, the last remaining intact shotgun house in Santa Monica rolled through the streets of Santa Monica early Sunday morning on its way to its new temporary site at the former Fisher Lumber Yard, which is now owned by the City.

The move from Santa Monica Airport, where the house was stored for several years, was authorized by Santa Monica City Council, which agreed to store the house at Fisher Lumber for two years to give a newly forming nonprofit organization, Friends of the Shotgun House, to secure a permanent site and raise funds to rehabilitate it. The cost of the move was underwritten by residents who are committed to preserving the historically significant house.Anyone interested in helping with the fundraising for the shotgun house should contact Sherrill Kushner at Friends of the Shotgun House, (310) 394-4835.
