Santa Monica College will open an exhibit of photographs by mentor student Sachi Kato on Monday, November 28. Titled “Tranquility,” the exhibit features moody and surrealistic still lifes and portraits that are shot on film and digitally manipulated. Kato is currently enrolled in SMC’s Arts Mentor Program, in which students work one-on-one or in small groups with a mentor. Her mentor is adjunct SMC photography professor Blue Fier. Focusing on fine art photography, Kato’s style is reminiscent of early photography.
