The Santa Monica Conservancy will be hosting the second of a four-part lecture series on Sunday, March 19, 2pm at Back at the Beach Restaurant, 445 Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica.Marc Wanamaker, renowned Hollywood film historian and author, will speak on the history of the Gold Coast and the rehabilitation of the Marion Davies Estate. The historic Gold Coast portion of the beach stretches from Wilshire Blvd. to Santa Monica Canyon. During the 1920s, William Randolph Hearst built the estate for Marion Davies, designed by the same architect, Julia Morgan, who had created his Hearst Castle at San Simeon. This estate quickly became the hub of much Hollywood entertainment. Due to limited space, tickets are best purchased in advance at the Conservancy’s website www.smconservancy.org.
