National Walk to Work Day:

April 7 is National Walk to Work Day and the California Podiatric Medical Association is encouraging Californians to walk at least part of their way, if not the entire way, to work that day. According to the Association’s President Tracy L. Basso, DPM, “The cost of our not walking as a nation – and living a sedentary lifestyle – is staggering. Obesity and poor physical fitness are rapidly catching up to smoking as the leading causes of preventable death in the United States.”

So Santa Monica, put on your walking shoes and get moving.
