Santa Monica College’s Mark Brathwaite, a high-scoring freshman guard from Boston, has been named to the All-Western State Conference basketball squad, as a first team choice.
Brathwaite, who was learning the point guard position, scored 35 points in one game and drew praise from Coach Trevor Shickman as SMC won three of its final four games to finish with a 14-14 record.
Three other Corsairs received honorable mention — center Shakir Johnson, forward Rondell Eskridge and guard Aaron Harris
Johnson is a freshman. Eskridge and Harris are sophomores.
