The American Cancer Society Relay for Life 2006 took place at SMC from 9am Saturday, July 29 to 9am Sunday, July 30. Hundreds of participants took part in the Ceremony of Hope, a night lap where everyone gathered around to remember those lost to cancer, support those fighting cancer and rejoice with those who have fought the disease and won. Stadium lights were turned off, participants held glow sticks for their loved ones and the track was lit by luminaria with the names of loved ones on each bag. A bagpiper led the procession. photo by Margaret Molloy
