After struggling offensively in its first two games, Brentwood went to San Diego Saturday, September 16, and exploded for a 48-3 non-league football victory over Tri-Cities Christian.
Although Brentwood had been unable to mount much of a running game previously, Tri Cities Christian came out in a nine-man defensive line, determined to stop the run. That made it easier for Brentwood’s passing game to operate.
Quarterbacks Mason Moss and Josh Amster combined for 232 yards and five touchdown passes. Their yardage was almost equal.
Tight end Charlie James had a 76-yard touchdown, catching a pass at midfield and running away from the opposition. Ben Oliva caught two scoring passes, Evan Paley had one for 60 yards and Ian Shaw had one for eight yards.
Brentwood worked on its running attack in the fourth quarter and totaled 96 yards, its best in three games. The leading rusher was Chase Bennett with 56 yards in 10 carries.
Brentwood will have a bye this weekend.
