Anti-War Event in Venice:

Frank Dorrel, publisher of Addicted to War, was co-host of an anti-war evening at the Venice United Methodist Church.  The event was held in honor of Fernando Suarez del Solar – whose son Jesus was one of the first Marines killed in Iraq – and to support Suarez del Solar’s Guerrero Azteca Peace Project.

Suarez del Solar created the organization in memory of his son and all of the soldiers and Iraqis who have died in the war. The organization serves as a voice against war.  Suarez del Solar gives talks and presentations to students and public forums, focusing on underrepresented communities.  He teaches that peace is a better path and that military service is not the best option to attain higher education.

The evening included music and short films about Suarez del Solar.
